Over the past few years, I embarked on a journey that has truly transformed my perspective on leadership and activism. It all started with a one-week training program in 2019, organized by YOTA, called Youth Leadership for Social Change. This experience ignited a passion in me and opened my eyes to the incredible power that youth have in driving meaningful change in society.
During the training, I found myself surrounded by like-minded individuals who shared my desire to make a difference. The sessions were dynamic and engaging, filled with discussions, hands-on activities, icebreakers, and inspiring facilitators who challenged us to think critically about the issues affecting our communities. I left the training not just with valuable knowledge, but with a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.
After the training, I applied to be part of the Youth on Board programme also implemented by YOTA, where I discovered a supportive network of young leaders committed to social change. Being part of this group has been an amazing learning experience. I’ve had the chance to engage with stakeholders and important government officials, which has been both eye-opening and empowering. These interactions taught me how vital collaboration and advocacy are in creating real impact.
One of the highlights of my journey has been the opportunity to travel and meet diverse individuals who are just as passionate about social justice as I am. Each encounter has enriched my understanding of the challenges we face and the innovative solutions being implemented in various contexts. These experiences have boosted my confidence, allowing me to share my ideas and perspectives more openly.
Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities that have come my way. The training and my involvement with Youth on Board have equipped me with essential skills and reaffirmed my belief in the power of youth to create positive change. I’m excited about what lies ahead and eager to continue this journey of learning, growth, and advocacy.
As I move forward, I’m committed to using my voice and experiences to inspire others. Together, we can create a more equitable society, driven by the passion and determination of young leaders ready to make a difference.
